Description & Iconography
Visuals: Thondor is depicted as a colossal, broad-shouldered figure, resembling a giant carved from living granite and iron. His beard is a tangle of steel wire and soot. His eyes glow like cooling embers.
-
The State: He is almost never depicted sober. He is usually shown holding "World-Breaker" (his massive warhammer) in one hand and a barrel-sized tankard in the other.
-
The Scars: His arms are covered in burns—scars earned when he held the chains of Naeros while they were being forged.
The Avatar: He manifests as The Living Slag. A towering golem of molten iron and black smoke that radiates intense heat. When he speaks, it sounds like grinding metal. He is abrasive, loud, and prone to violent mood swings.

Traits & Motivations (The Public Doctrine)
The Creed: Thondor teaches that The World is Hard, so you must be Harder.
-
The Iron Law: "Steel does not bend; it breaks or it endures." He despises weakness, complaining, and cowardice.
-
The Sacrament of the Brew: Alcohol is not a vice; it is a holy fuel. It provides the "Inner Fire" to combat the outer cold. Being able to hold your liquor is seen as a measure of your spiritual strength.
-
The Builder: He is the god of Walls. In a world of monsters, the wall is the only thing keeping you alive. Every brick laid properly is a prayer to Thondor.
The Positive Aspect (The Protector):
-
The Smith: He represents the skill to create tools, weapons, and shelter. Without Thondor, the Wardens would be fighting with sticks.
-
The Shield: He is the god of standing your ground. He gives soldiers the courage to hold the line against the horrors of the Rifts.
The Negative Aspect (The Drunkard):
-
The Rage: Thondor is a mean drunk. He represents domestic violence, bar brawls, and destruction caused by anger.
-
The Rigid Mind: He hates innovation. "The old ways worked for my father, they work for me." He actively suppresses new inventions (unless they are weapons), fearing that change will weaken the Prison.
Routine & Worship
Rituals:
-
The First Strike: Blacksmiths must strike their anvil once at dawn before starting work, a "knell" to wake the god.
-
The Pour: Soldiers never drink the first sip of a bottle; they pour it on their blade or shield to "feed the iron."
-
The Brawl: Disputes in the military are often settled by "Thondor’s Court"—a fistfight. The winner is deemed to have the god's favor.
Omens of Displeasure:
-
The Cold Forge: A fire that refuses to light, or metal that cracks instantly when quenched.
-
The Sour Mead: A batch of alcohol turning foul or tasteless.
-
The Tremor: The ground shaking violently (Thondor dropping his hammer in a drunken stupor).
:: secret
The Divine Truth (GM Only)
Cosmic Role: The Jailor / The Guilt-Ridden Enforcer.
Role in the Betrayal:
-
The Hammer: Thondor is the one who physically fought Naeros. While Malephor poisoned him and Zylara drafted the binding contract, Thondor had to beat the Creator into submission.
-
The Chains: He forged the Great Chains of Iskavell (the physical structure of the prison/the ice shelf) using his own blood to cool the iron.
True Motivation:
-
The PTSD: Thondor drinks because he remembers the sound of Naeros’s bones breaking. He remembers the look of betrayal in the Creator's eyes. He is consumed by guilt, but he believes he did what was necessary to bring "Order" to a chaotic universe.
-
The Fear: He is terrified of Naeros waking up. He knows that if the Creator breaks free, Thondor is the first one he will kill.
-
The Bully: He takes his fear out on the other gods. He threatens Malephor, ignores Oalara, and is constantly suspicious of Zylara. The only god he respects is Soteris, because she is the only one smart enough to keep the lock shut. ::
